IMAGINE PICASSO MAKES ITS U.S. PREMIERE IN San Francisco

Imagine Picasso made its U.S. debut at the iconic Skylight at The Armory in San Francisco on February 9, 2022. Jacob Cohl, VP of Experiential/Exhibitions at S2BN Entertainment with Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron, directors of Imagine Picasso, welcomed the opening guests and the media attending. It was an honor to have Olivier Widmaier Picasso, grandson of Pablo Picasso, join virtually the opening event of Imagine Picasso.

The mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf was one of the guests attending the opening party at The Gertrude Stein Salon in the Skylight, especially created for the exhibition opening.

The team of the award-winning design studio Local Projects, which collaborated in the creation of a new introductory experience entitled “The Presence of Genius” was also among the guests.

“I’m always curious to see a celebration of my grandfather’s work and Imagine Picasso the Immersive Exhibition is not something seen before, not at digital attempt to do something with Picasso, it’s really a collaboration between an artist and other artists.”
Olivier Widmaier Picasso, Pablo Picasso grandson
“This exhibition started because the Picasso Succession give me the right and I’m the only one in the world to this exhibition and that was so important for me. It was such a responsibility too.”
Annabelle Mauger, Imagine Picasso the Immersive Exhibition co-director
“This exhibition brings Picasso’s legacy to life in new and unexpected ways, captivating all audiences regardless of age, culture or nationality. Imagine Picasso is for anyone and everyone.”
Jacob Cohl, VP of Experiential/Exhibitions at S2BN Entertainment
“It’s a unique experience to see those masterpieces in one place but it’s also a reinterpretation of his work, because being part of what’s happening on the screens it’s a unique sensation and I think that this moment is really one of its kind. My grandfather liked to be a pioneer and I’m sure if he was alive today he will be very happy to work in this project”
Olivier Widmaier Picasso, Pablo Picasso grandson
“Here, in an immersive way it’s another way of feeling the paintings. There is no more resignation, you need to be active, you need to move, you need to look at all those details and I would say you’ll understand, trust in yourself and you’ll understand what we wanted to do”.
Annabelle Mauger, Imagine Picasso the Immersive Exhibition co-director
“What you’re going to see is a dialogue between the paintings. In every painting there is a movement. The painter decided of a movement. There’s no more distance between you and the paintings. When you’re in a museum, of course you need to have minimum one meter between you and the paintings. Here, if you want you can even touch even the screens”
